Jakarta History Museum
The museum, located in what was the Stadhuis or the Batavia city hall, allows visitors to trace the history of Jakarta. Having been used for several different functions, the building was finally established as the Jakarta History Museum on 30 March 1974. The museum boasts a total 500 collections dating back to Batavia period; including the story of Jan Pieterszoon Coen, the famous Jagur cannon, a room where Prince Diponegoro was once detained, and a fountain in the center of Fatahillah Park which, at the time, served as the only water source for the Batavia area.
